The other characters, called minor characters, interact with the main characters and help move the story along. Characters can be dynamic or static. Dynamic characters change as a result of events, whereas static characters remain unchanged.

Madame Loisel (characteristics):
- Mathilde Loisel dreams for a better life. These dreams cause her to halfway leave reality, then come back greedy for more than she has, or can afford. This greed is a sign of her inner weakness, a weakness for wealth and beauty.
- The actions of story is when she lose her necklace and then she had to work for ten years to return the necklace.
Thoughts:
- This story is about a woman named Ms. Loisel. She was petty and charming. She married a common little clerk. Her life was in poverty and depression. One day, she and her husband received an invitation to attend a ball. To conceal her impoverished family situations and show off her charm and beauty, she borrowed a necklace from her friend.
Loisel's excessive desire for goods and preoccupation with is appearance vain.
